[1] The ‘big 3’ energy retailers measured are AGL, Energy Australia (represented as Company B), and Origin Energy (represented as Company C).

[2] All generation data is for 2015-16 and sourced from National Greenhouse and Energy Reporting generation data as reported by the Clean Energy Regulator and published at here.

[3] All electricity data is measured in accordance with, and as reported by AGL Energy under the National Greenhouse and Energy Reporting Act (Cth, 2007). The electricity data is the total of the electricity sent out of the facility as measured at the gate and sent either directly to a customer or supplied to the grid. Figures are based on average Australian household consumption and calculated using the Australian Energy Council residential electricity use and customer numbers per state for FY2015 as reported in Electricity Gas Australia 2016 (www.electricitygasaustralia.com.au).

[4] Annual measure based on a petrol car, travelling 13,200km/annum, consuming 10.7 litres/100 km (ABS Survey of Motor Vehicle Use, 2014), full fuel cycle emission factors for petrol and scope 2 electricity emissions factors (National Greenhouse Accounts Factors, August 2016).

All data collated in April 2017.
