Show off your pride in the sun this Midsumma

Summer is here. For some it’s the season of sunny days and clear skies. But for Australia’s LGBTIQ community, it’s pride season.

Over the next three months cities and towns across the country will be wearing their colours to celebrate their pride.

One of the biggest celebrations in the country is Melbourne’s Midsumma Festival. A three-week long celebration of LGBTIQ art, culture and community attended by nearly 200,000 people.

In 2016, AGL is the Gold Partner and Official Energy Partner of the festival: just one of the many ways they are supporting the community. In September, AGL announced their support for marriage equality, and are heavily invested in diversity and inclusion.

The Midsumma 2016 program has hit the streets and we’ve picked out the best five events to go to out in the sun.

1. Carnival.

The festival kicks off with a day of fun at Alexandra Gardens. Enjoy a picnic and glass of wine in front of one of the stages offering hours of free entertainment. Or check out 100+ stalls, the famous Dog Show or the free TDance event and watch the sun set over the beautiful city. There’s something for everyone.
